Emergency Preparedness and Response Training

Whether you are just beginning to plan for an emergency or updating your knowledge; below you will find an array of training materials to help you.

Site Administrators are encouraged to complete the National Incident Command System (NIMS) training to better understand and later implement the Incident Command System (ICS) in the event of a disaster. Some classes can be taken at the FEMA Independent Study website for online credit while others are required for classroom credit. These classes can be found at the Utah Department of Public Safety: Emergency Management Training website.

Online Training

First Aid/CPR Training

National Safety Council course. Cost is $20 which covers student material and certificates. CPR is valid for 2 years and First aid for 3 years. This class qualifies for Employee Wellness benefit level 1. The entire course takes approximately 7 hours.

Stop the Bleed

This is a free 1 hour course that teaches participants how to recognize and stop major bleeding by using direct pressure, pressure bandages, tourniquets, wound packing, and hemostatic agents.

Immediate Responder Training

This free course covers active shooter / violent intruder response and emergency medical care until professional responders arrive. Includes: Run, Hide, Fight, See Something Say Something, Until Help Arrives and Tactical emergency Casualty Care (Stop the Bleed), and Positioning injured victims. The entire course takes approximately 3.5 hours.

Online Training
