Frequently Asked Questions

Note: These are general payroll questions and answers. For more specific questions, see the payroll training page on the left.

If you haven't received your paycheck 4-5 days after payday, contact the payroll department.  It takes 10 business days to reissue your check.  We first have to wait to see if your check is returned to us.  The US Postal Service (USPS) does not forward our checks even if you completed a USPS forward mail form.  The 10 business days usually falls on the next pay date, so we will ask you to complete and return to us the Stop Payment Form before the 10th day.  Your check will be ready on pay day after 2:00 pm.  To avoid this problem all together, consider Direct Deposit.

First of all, ask your supervisor if your Personnel Action Form (PAF) was sent to Human Resources (HR). You may want to call HR to check (801-957-4210). For you to have an employee tab, we in payroll must have your PAF which is sent to us after HR does their processing. If time permits and we can locate your PAF, we will work to get your job in the system. If you are part-time, we may ask your supervisor to complete an emergency time sheet to get you paid on the payroll. If timing does not allow us to get your job in the system, we can pay you on the adjustment payroll (given that we have a timesheet) which is scheduled about 1 week after the original payroll. Call the payroll department for exact dates.

The College's pay days are the 7th and the 22nd of each month. Our pay periods are the 1st thru the 15th and the 16th thru the end of the month. The College's work week is Saturday - Friday. Remember part-time employees are limited to 29 hours a work week and a work week may fall into two pay periods.

Since labor laws require you to work 40 hours before being paid overtime, you would reduce your vacation by 2 hours and not put in any overtime.

If you are part-time, you would put your hours in as H1 on your timesheet. If you are full-time non-exempt, you would only put your time in as OVT if you worked more than 32 hours that work week (given there was just one holiday in the week).
