This report considers two questions: (1) what percentage of students fail our largest courses, and (2) which courses have the highest failure rates? The answers to these questions can be quite complex due to the large differences between students, sections, and instructors. An average rate can be misleading. The variability across sections of a single course produces a wide range of variability. This report provides the average rates, but also the distribution of outcomes across all sections. We see that in our largest courses there is a wide variability in student outcomes depending on which section the student takes.
