Children in the Workplace
SLCC supports a work environment that is safe and free from unnecessary distractions. To protect the needs of all parties impacted by the presence of children in the workplace, the presence of children in the workplace in lieu of other arrangements is not permitted.
The following exceptions to the general rule may be granted if the child’s presence does not pose a breach of confidentiality or a risk to the child, the employee, or the College:
- Minors who are enrolled as students or are employees of the College
- Officially sponsored institutional activities and programs for children
- Brief visits provided the employee supervises the child(ren) at all times during the visit
- Special occasions/circumstances approved by the employee’s supervisor
