Outstanding Leadership Award

The Outstanding Leadership Award recognizes staff members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and have made significant contributions to the College's mission and values. Nominees for this award must meet the following additional criteria:

  • Be in a leadership or supervisor role. This includes committee leads, project leads, facilitators, managers, supervisors, and regional or national leadership that impacts the SLCC community.

Selection Process

The selection committee consists of 3 members of the Executive Staff Association Board — President or President-elect designated as chair, 2 previous Outstanding Staff awardees, and 2 randomly selected employees from the staff at large (1 full-time and 1 part-time employee). Members of the Executive Staff Association Board will fill in if others cannot be found. Nominees for the Outstanding Staff Award must meet the minimum requirements:

Timeline:

  • Nomination Period: January 28 - February 14
  • Review Period: February 15 – March 14
  • Announcement of Awardees: April 12 at Employee Celebration

Criteria:

  • Be in a full-time position for a minimum of two years (FT award qualifier)
  • Be in a part-time position for two years (PT award qualifier)
  • Be nominated by any SLCC employee
  • Must be in good standing without any corrective action at level 2 or above
  • Must be considered a staff member by the Staff Association Constitution & Bylaws

Nominees may be recognized for numerous years but may only receive a monetary award for the first year at each level of selection. This resets after 5 calendar years. Awardees may win at both the Full-Time and Part-Time levels if their employment changes and they meet the qualifiers at their subsequent new level of employment. Incomplete nominations will not be reviewed. Supportive narrative on how the nominee meets the criteria of outstanding is required for scoring. Multiple endorsements for one nominee are welcome, though they will be scored as one nomination. If a nominee is a member of the Outstanding Staff Awards Task Force or Selection Committee, they have the option of declining the nomination and staying on or accepting the nomination and resigning.
