Physical activity is a key component to wellbeing journey. Leading a physically activelifestyle positively impacts your ability to cope with daily stressors, move through your
environment, and complete activities of daily living.
Level 2 MOVE & DO Programs
These simple to complete programs are intended to engage participants with important but brief information about many different health topics. Full-Time participants will be incentivized for selecting and completing any three Level 2 programs ($100 each).
Long-term healthy living needs simple beginnings. One Small Change is a health behavior change program that encourages participants to identify one health behavior that they would like to adopt, modify, or eliminate and live that change for at least 21 days. Support for identifying a change, as well as living the identified change, comes from attending and participating in small group discussions.

Submit the registration form to sign-up for the group One Small Change program. Prior to the start of the program that you have signed up for, an Employee Wellness team member will email you with all of the attendance specifics that you will need.

Get out to enjoy the Holiday time with the employee wellness November - December Photo Scavenger Hunt. This program is meant to get your body moving outside daily in whatever way you are able. Complete 20 photo scavenger hunt items (one per day) by the end of 2024.

Level 3 MOVE & DO Programs
This level is aimed at knowledge acquisition. Here you will receive in-depth and usable information about relevant health and wellbeing topics. Participants will be incentivized for selecting and completing a maximum of one item ($200) per fiscal year.
Participants of the Personal Training Program will receive a maximum of 16 weekly Personal Training sessions. Due to staffing limitations, this program is available to a limited number of participants. If you would like to participate, please review the Personal Training procedures then watch for the announcement email from People & Workplace Culture’s Wellness Team. If selected, your Personal Trainer will contact you to finalize your training schedule. Due to the high demand for this program, participants are selected based on if they have not participated before and/or how long it has been since they last participated. Prioritization is given to those who have not yet participated.

Recipe Book and Mindful Meals: This program is designed to further the connection between meal planning, shopping, cooking, and eating. Participants will prepare, consume, and evaluate 10 recipes from either of the custom-built SLCC's recipe books. Within the recipe book, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to incorporate mindful eating practices into their daily lives.
This program is asynchronous and begins when you want it to begin and ends when you have completed the Recipe Rating Tool. Please download and complete the Recipe Rating Tool. Use the Mindfulness prompts in the SLCC recipe books to complete the Reflection portion of this program. Level 4 MOVE & DO Programs
This level is independent of the previous three levels. These programs are intended to help prevent the onset of or better management of chronic conditions. Participants will spend the entire fiscal year within this level. The full annual incentive amount will be distributed throughout the fiscal year. Please complete the program from this list that is most applicable for you:These Level 4 Employee Wellness programs are designed to help individuals living with chronic conditions to improve their quality of life by improving the quality of their self-care routines. Full-Time employees interested in better managing their chronic condition(s) are welcome to register for one of the LivingWell with Chronic Conditions offered by our community partners.
Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP): The CDSMP has shown to be effective in improving: exercise, cognitive symptom management, communication with physicians, self-reported general health, health distress, fatigue, disability, and social/role activities limitations among individuals living with chronic condition(s). The CDSMP is a 6-week (2 hours per session) program with a 12-week aftercare (1 hour per session) extension. Participation in this program requires a medically diagnosed chronic condition (e.g. arthritis, asthma, diabetes, lung disease, heart disease, stroke).
Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP): For diabetics, the DSMP aims to increase participant’s confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active fulfilling lives through the implementation of highly participative and supportive small group discussions. The DSMP consists of three components: CDSMP, DSMP, and a 6-week aftercare program. Participation in this program requires medically diagnosed diabetic status.
Aftercare Program: The Aftercare Program is designed to extend the support received through the CDSMP and DSMP programs. Depending on your unique situation a 6-12 week aftercare program will be required to receive the full level 4 incentive. Contact an Employee Wellness Benefit team member to register for an aftercare program.
In the Bone Health program, you will learn the basics of osteoporosis/osteopenia, understand how to better care for your bones, and improve the overall health of your muscle/skeletal system. Within this program, you’ll have the opportunity to also engage in the Walk With Ease program through the National Arthritis Foundation which is designed to help strengthen joints and prevent/manage arthritis. This program will help you gain insight into the health of your bones, participate in bone-building activities in a group-based setting and discuss different topics related to bone health like nutrition, movement, and practical tips.
If you have osteopenia, osteoporosis, arthritis, or are concerned about the overall health of your bones, this program will be helpful for you. All are welcome to register!

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) is a CDC-developed program that has been shown to reduce the onset of diabetes among individuals identified as pre-diabetic by 58%. This 24-week (1 hour per session) program is offered to employees who meet the requirements and choose to participate. This program is aimed to help prevent the onset of diabetes among those who identify as prediabetic. Prediabetic status can be assessed in several ways. The easiest being this CDC prediabetes screening tool.

KAB (Knowledge, Attitudes, and Behaviors) programs motivate participants to put their "KAB in Action" by providing them with time away from their typical duties (pending supervisor approval).With supervisor approval, full-time employees are invited to join our weekly Level 5* drop-in yoga sessions. Yoga mats will be provided in the Wellness Space on Taylorsville Campus, TB 225-B. Join us in person or virtually. Please email kadee.willie@slcc.edu to be added to the calendar invite and email list.
Each drop-in yoga session follows this structure:
- first 15 mins are breathing practice and meditation
- remaining time is asana practice
Feel free to leave after the first 15 minutes or show up for the last 30-45 minutes as your schedule allows.

These are restorative classes meant for all levels. You are welcome to come for the first 15 mins of breathing and meditation practice, the last 30 mins for movements and postures/stretches or the entire 45 min class. All you need are comfortable clothes (any clothes work if you can move in them). The Wellness Space (TB 225B) has mats and meditation cushions. You are always welcome to use a chair or stand for class if you choose.

Through mindful practice, we'll explore how to gently release negative thoughts and replace them with affirmations of positivity and gratitude, empowering you to approach life with renewed optimism and resilience. Whether you’re seeking a boost in your daily happiness or a long-term mindset shift, this class offers the tools you need to nurture a more joyful and fulfilling life.
We’ll spend the first 20 minutes of class sharing thoughts on gratitude and a given topic on positive psychology and the last 5-10 on a short meditation to ground in the practices for the day.

Mindfulness meditation offers a wealth of benefits for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. By cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental acceptance, mindfulness meditation can reduce stress, enhance emotional regulation, improve focus and concentration, and promote overall resilience and inner peace. Regular practice of mindfulness meditation has been associated with reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, as well as increased feelings of clarity, compassion, and self-awareness, so come join us every Tuesday and Thursday for 30 minutes of reconnecting to yourself.
